Raja Najamul Hassan

Born 1970, Paris, France

Biography

Largely self-taught, French born Pakistani artist Raja Najam ul Hassan found himself inspired and attracted to drawing and painting since his early childhood. Participating and wining the inter school drawing competitions during his school & college life encouraged him more and compelled his family to allow him to practice art in future more seriously.

Finally he turned his passion in to his profession by starting painting as a whole time artist since 2003 onward. Living in the various parts of the world Hassan is well conversant about his art and his body of work.

Hassan says, “My goal as an artist is to create fine art that brings inspiration & joy to the people around the world. I strongly believe that art has no boundaries neither categories but just to define the body of my work it falls somewhere in realism and impressionism. The whole beautiful world is my studio and the entire nature around me is my mentor. I would love to explore & paint as much as I can in a style which is distinctively my own.”

Working as a full time professional, Hassan has exhibited his work both nationally and internationally in groups and solo shows including karachi, Islamabad, Lahore Venice, Tehran, Singapore, Toronto, Doha, New Jersey and New York.

Statement

“When painting, I feel a personal connection with nature. I try to capture the mood, atmosphere, sounds & smells of the landscape around me. My first impression of the scene must stimulate and excites my senses. The process of creating a painting will contain all the
experiences past and present, passion, skill, control & an attempt to capture the fleeting moment in time. For me, painting is a passion and a never ending learning process. And I am so happy spending my life using the gifts Allah has given me. There is a beauty around all around
us, often overlooked by the bustle of everyday living. My landscape paintings are inspired by my great love for nature.

I strongly believe that, the great art not only speaks to your imagination but also calls your heart & soul. To me, there is nothing like the excitement of creating a painting and love the idea of producing something that people can enjoy beyond a life time”
